Computer Course under the Program for Visually Impaired

Institute of Hazrat Mohammad SAW, Dhaka

The Institute provided training on Information Technology, PABX and Call Center Operations and Spoken English for visually impaired persons. The training and transport facilities are provided to the students free-of-charge. The Institute is accredited as a civil society at the World Bank and signatory to the United Nations Global Compact. This course was sponsored by SHEBI, Inc., USA (More information are below the photographs).


Course Description

The Information Technology (IT) Course under the Institute's Visually Impaired Program for Batch 1_Aug-Dec 2016 started on August 3, 2016. It is a Beginner's Course on Information Technology. It is meant for students who are partially or fully visually impaired. The course uses JAWs software for listening. The students are taught how to use Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel. They also learn how to browse the internet, open and operate email accounts and scanning documents. They are also shown the use of email and transferring of files and documents from a mobile phone.

Course Schedule

3 classes are in a week. Two hours per class. Course Duration: August - December 2016

Teacher Description

Ms. Farzana Taleb possesses 18 years of experience. She holds a Bachelor in Social Science. She has received training from Mobility International USA, German Technical Cooperation (GTZ), and Association for Women with Disabilities (AWWD) India and many other renowned institutions.

Student Description

The students are from Dhaka University, Dhaka College and Eden Girls College. They are from economically disadvantaged background and resides in university/college dormitories.
